ANTI-OXIDANT & ANTI-CANCER PROPERTIES
Chinese Green Tea (CGT) has long been used to cleanse the kidneys and as an antioxidant but only recently have studies revealed that green tea protects against cancer, particularly breast and liver cancer. CGT appears to have more anti oxidant properties than any fruit or vegetable, even more than juices (consumer report November 1999). Antioxidants neutralise damaging free radicals, which are highly unstable molecules produced by the body’s normal metabolism from exposure to chemicals, metals, radiation etc. Lacking a vital part of their molecular structure, free radicals “oxidise” other molecules by snatching the missing part from them. This process damages the body’s cells, protein and fats & can cause a wide range of disease & aging if overloaded.
Antioxidants minimise oxidation, therefore neutralise the radicals. Green Tea is unusually rich in a potent class of antioxidants (polyphenols). It appears to be far stronger than any other antioxidant tested. Studies by the Journal of The National Cancer Institute indicate oesophagus cancer to be 57% less in men and 60% less in women when using Chinese Green Tea. Polyphenols also stop enzymes that produce cancer. Lab tests have shown protection against cancer of the breast, colon, oesophagus, liver, lungs, pancreas, skin and stomach. It appears the tea inhibits proliferation of new blood vessels which fuel the growth in tumours, disrupting several tumour promoting enzymes. It is said to kill or at least slow the growth of actual cancer cells.

SHIELDS DNA
Chinese Green Tea also shields DNA from oxidation damage (DNA has to be altered in the cell before fat deterioration to produce cancer when oxygen is depleted by more than 60%). Harvard University School and Bringham Hospital compared heart attack patients with healthy people and calculated that two cups of Green Tea per day decreased the percentage chance by 44%. Additional consumption produces a significant 4% increase in 24 hour energy expenditure which translates into plus minus 80 calories which will reduce fat, not muscle, by approximately 9 pounds or 4 Kg’s per annum. In short, it increases metabolic rate and fat oxidation. The potency of Chinese Green Tea is a result of the interaction between the caffeine, tea catchins and norepinephines, (a potent hormone metabolic stimulator).
